Press Release Ellis Dominates Red Bull Driver Search Qualifying!

Ryan was honored last August to be invited by Indy 500 Champion Danny Sullivan and the Red Bull Driver Search folks to a private three day run-off held at F1 Boston, the nation's premier outdoor karting facility. Ryan competed against nearly 100 of the best young racers in America, drivers from every conceievable faction of automotive motorsports, in Red Bull's huge fleet of identically prepared race karts. Danny Sullivan personally coached each and every driver though the extraordinary event, which was done first-class in every way. Red Bull paid our way to Boston, catered the kid's food and drink, and treated each and every kid with the respect they deserve as young professional atheletes. While professional kart road racing may not be Ryan's particular expertise, he was in a position to make the cut when he spun in his final event. Both Ryan and his dad had a ball, and were happy to take part in this historic event.Officials from Red Bull announced today that Ryan Ellis, the 15 year old Ashburn, VA racing sensation has been selected to compete - for the second year in a row - in the Red Bull Driver Search's United States Runoffs. This July Ellis will once again join other aspiring drivers from across the Eastern US at "F1 Boston" - the nation's premier outdoor karting facility, competing on a winding road course circuit in identically-prepared race karts. The three day event is paid for by energy drink maker Red Bull, who employs Indy 500 winner Danny Sullivan as their head scout. The Search's ultimate prize is a F1 Driving Contract in Europe.

Ryan qualified for this event by virtue of a dominating performance at the Washington DC area finals, held at Allsports Grand Prix in Sterling, VA. Ellis won every form of Red Bull's on-track evaluations, demonstrating unparalleled speed and race savy in Allsport's fleet of race karts. He competed against a dozen other drivers aged 13-17, and amazingly was the only competitor in the event without both kart and road racing experience! Ryan began his racing career at age 5 - racing in oval track racing's "Little League" (Quarter Midgets) for seven years, moving on to professional racing in the hotly contested INEX Legends Cars by age 12.

Now in his fourth season of Legends racing, the lead-footed Virginian is recognized as one of the top INEX drivers in the country, and is entertaining several NASCAR offers for the 2006 season. Ellis will also be a guest of Red Bull at the upcoming Richmond Indy Racing League, (IRL) event. There he will meet with Red Bull executives and race team members as Team Red Bull competes in the Suntrust Indy Challenge. In the meantime, Ellis will be racing Legends Cars at events across VA, NC and PA, appearing at his home track, (Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, VA) on Saturday May 7 and in a special two-day National event May 14-15. He is a freshman at Stone Bridge HS in Ashburn.
