Ryan Ellis set to make third appearance in Chili Bowl Nationals

Updated: Jan 9, 2021

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 6, 2021) – Part-time NASCAR driver Ryan Ellis will kick off his 2021 racing season by competing in the 35th running of the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Ashburn, Virginia, native will pilot the No. 117 midget fielded by team owner Randy Washburn. The colors of Kansasland Tire and Service will adorn Ellis’ machine as the company returns as a primary sponsor with the driver at the famed dirt racing event for the second time. The 31-year-old will have additional sponsorship from Rich Mar Florist, Audio Video Specialists, Whitetail Smokeless, Merry Maids, Klik Marketing and Steve Hilker Trucking. Kansasland boasts over 40 locations across five states, including 25 locations in the state of Kansas. It now ranks among the top-40 independent tire companies in North America and services over 5,000 customers in its varied operations daily. The company offers tires and wheels, automotive services and commercial/farm services to customers in the state of Kansas. Kansasland stocks a large selection of tires from major brands like Goodyear, Kelly and Mastercraft, and can provide a number of automotive services. “I’m really excited to head to the Chili Bowl this year,” Ellis said. “We’ve got a really good effort put together thanks to all of these great partners on board. I’m really looking forward to getting some laps before heading to Tulsa. Having not raced at all last year and only having run a midget one time in the last five years, heading to a race like this is definitely a massive challenge when these guys and girls do this almost every week.” Ellis’ participation in this year’s Chili Bowl at the River Spirit Expo Center will mark just his fourth run in a dirt midget, and third outing at the Chili Bowl. “Last year I just didn’t want to make a fool of myself because of my lack of experience, but this year we’re going to race,” Ellis said. “If I can pick up a few mains from last year and also pick up a few spots on Thursday I’ll feel really good about how we did. It’s also my first year working with Randy Washburn and I’m excited to see what we can do together.” Over his 26-year racing career, Ellis has amassed 79 starts across the top-three levels of NASCAR, including five in the NASCAR Cup Series. He has also made starts in IMSA. The 35th Chili Bowl Nationals is set for January 11-16, with coverage of the six-night event available on FloRacing until Saturday night.
